Nadira’s 12th Birthday party at Oman Bowling Center
Finally, Nadira got to celebrate her birthday with her friends.
For past few years, we celebrated her birthday at home inviting only close friends and relatives. But for our little ‘lady’ here – celebrating at home with mommy and daddy is no longer ‘cool’, she is indeed a lady, fun is out there with friends! (sigh..I am getting old… )
Happy that she had a good time with her friends. Happy birthday Nadira – love from Mommy and ayah .

My new machine
I’m spoilt here; I don’t think I can revert to normal saloon car. From Prado to GMC Envoy and now I am driving a Land Cruiser – for some reasons, getting on a four wheel drive car just boost up my confidence in driving .
With 50% of my waking hours spent on the road (sending and picking up the kids from school, extra class, swimming, Quran class and doing grocery etc etc etc), a confident drive in this part of the world really help me from potential traffic bullying (if you know what I mean…all those honking and other nuisance driving experience).

National Day Celebration
The kids’ school organized a function to commemorate the National Day. Parents were expected to assist the school officials on this function, so, for the past two weeks, I was actually busy with this.
The function was for primary student, so Nadira (as "ciwi" high school student now was not there). I dressed Nabila up in an Omai traditional costume.
Carried out at the school Sport Hall, it started with a parade by students of all countries (there are 44 nationalities) and later followed by shows performed by each country. Due to our small number, Malaysia and Brunei Darassalam teamed up for the show. We did a traditional Malay wedding ceremony. I was the mother of the bride.

One morning in Mutrah
Oman National Day falls on 19 Nov 2006 (that’s Nabila’s birthday). On National Day, Nabila’s school requested parents to dress their kids up in Omani traditional dress as there would be some cultural activities organized by the school on that day. So last weekend we went out looking for one at Mutrah souq. As usual, the souq was always busy with tourist; we didn’t spend long there, grabbed the dress and left.
Our plan was actually to proceed for lunch at this one restaurant recommended by our friend. It is TFC restaurant (sounds like KFC, but it’s an acronym for Tearavenderandum Fried chicken (I am sure I’ve got the spelling wrong there).
I have read about this place before, but then I thought with that corny TFC name (that’s to me denoting an attempt of a copyright/patent infringement!) it has never tickle my taste bud. I didn’t know the place was quite popular until last week when it was recommended by our friends. We thought of trying it out, but when we reached there, unfortunate for us, the place was closed .

Birthday party by the beach

Raya mood continued with our friends inviting us for their daughters’ birthday at the beach – Aida and Alisya. Nabila was excited as she had been bugging me to take her to the beach the whole summer (imagine the heat!). The weather now is tolerable, we spent relaxing (with the kids playing) at the beach until late.
Complement to nazri for the juicy satay!

Eid 2006
Seven days of eid holidays – thought of going somewhere but ended up spending all here in Muscat.
Anyhow, a happier eid compared to the past. The night before, right after isya’, we (our family, Haji’s family and Nazri) grouped together at Prof’s residence for a takbir. Though the takbir went a bit down on tune due to the fact that two of the strong members were down on flue, it was touchy and shahdu for some reasons .
The morning of eid, after prayer, we invited families of Prof, Haji Z, Rohimi, Hj Wan, Hj Shukor and Osman.
