Ski Dubai

view from the mall
the dome...
View all 6 photos...
The last weekend before ayah left, where else…down we went to Dubai for a good two nights and three days fling . This time, though we went to the regular souqs and MCC (damn..never have enough of these places ), we took our fling further by exploring into other parts of Dubai, where we’ve not been before - Bur Dubai - the other side of the creek, Burj Al Arab, Mall of the Emirates and few other places that I wasn’t exactly know the names – just drove around!

We went to Ski Dubai, yes places for skiing and snowboarding that I’ve read a lot about. It is a three hundred million dollar playground from the brochure I read, with five runs and a real chairlift that stretches in a diagonal fashion into the heights located some thirty levels above. The center itself is huge and covers almost six acres and can at any point in time welcome more than a thousand people. Can’t believe these people were willing to spend this much, too rich I guess !

We didn’t exactly enter the dome, not to mention the ‘must-be-some-fortune-costing fee’ that we need to fork out, but who will ski among us..duh ???

A drive to Nizwa

Nizwa

View all 8 photos...
I had been reading about Nizwa, just waited for the right time to ask hubby to go and visit the place.

Finally, we were there for a day trip, left early in morning with packed karipap and cookies and back to Muscat late afternoon. It took us one and half hour. On the way, we passed by Jabal Al Akdar, just another place that I would love to go one day.

Nizwa is one of the largest cities in Oman and the capital of the interior region. The place offers wealth of cultural and ancient landmarks. We went to the Cattle and Goat souq – pasar lelong selling these livestocks, interesting though – you'd never imagine how goats come in hundreds kinda species (some were so cute… macam kuching parsi pun ada). We walked to Nizwa fort, right in the city center, the fort was surrounded by well-organized ancient traditional souqs selling almost everything – from gifts to jewelry and vegetables.

We didn't buy anything though, just jalan jalan. Nizwa is one of the favourite tourists spot, and that tells you how these vendors are tagging the price! You could get same item lots cheaper in Mutrah.

nampak macam padang pasir la.. kat mana yek ...

Ayah and aunty were here for a visit

MCC Seeb
Awal Muharam at Haji's
Qurum National Park
View all 4 photos...
So many places of attractions during the Muscat Festival, they were kinda scattered from Qurum National Park all the way to Seeb beach. Events and the respective venues were advertised in local daily, so we had to check out the paper to plan our activities – trying to minimize having to go out during school weekdays or spending too much time out at night (..imagine having to push two strollers in the mid of crowd )

Ayah and aunty were here two days before the festival ended, so we managed to take them out to few places. Here, we went to Qurum National Park – place featuring various cultural, heritage shows and exhibition.

It was their first visit to this part of the world, so they really enjoyed the tour.

old friends were in town

Burj Al Arab
Old friends back in Malaysia were here for a short visit. So delighted to have them here, the wife was the Chairlady of one association that I was a member to and the husband was hubby former boss at work. They are a very nice couple – kids are all grown up and this was just, I presumed, one of their second honeymoon jalan jalan .

It was great that they were here during the Muscat Festival – I managed to take them around to few places and attractions, and in between days, we drove down to Dubai for two nights. I hope they had a good time visiting Muscat.

Company 2005 Family Day

Family Day was held at one of the private clubs along the Al Tahiba/Seeb beach. It started at 10.00am, we were there on time, as usual, but most were there much later. So by the time it really started, the sun was already getting on us. Unlike last year, it was held early of the year, so the weather was kinda nice. Anyway, this time around, the organisers, who ever they were, have really done a darn good job. There were loads of activities for the kids and us. So the five hours spent there was worth the time. The kids enjoyed it and I did too.

School starts next week...

School starts in a week time – the kids are back in Malaysia, getting ready. The left last week together with hubby .

Hubby did a last minute shopping buying whatever needed for the kids to start with their schooling. And for Nurul and Iman, they got all the right sizes for school uniform (real lucky considering it was a last minute shopping). KLong is struggling with her assignment.

We miss them already; it was great to have all the kids here .

Kak Long Birthday at Kargeen

View all 6 photos...
We celebrated Klong birthday at Kargeen Café, Madinat Qaboos after much contemplation of where to go. It is an Arabic/Lebanese restaurant offering traditional Arabian cuisine and ambience. It is a neat place, and during wintertime like now, the eating-place are normally extended beyond the restaurant area with numbers of small hut-like erected outside.

Had a good time in that small "hut". Hubby started with telling jokes, crop up teka teki and later started playing this "whisper-games" that he picked-up during his Pengakap-day back in sekolah rendah...you know that game where we all sit in a circle and one will start with a message verbally passed to the next person sitting next to him by whispering until it comes back to him with a totally different message…that was so hilarious!!

Nadira's and Iman's Birthday

Iman's b'day at Bin Ateeq
Deea's b'day at home
View all 5 photos...
Except for Nurul, our kids are celebrating their birthdays in the months Nov/Dec, starting from Nabila, then Nadira, Iman, Kak Long and finally Hakeem, on 28 Dec.

We had Deaa’s b’day at home, inviting the ‘regular kaki’. I made cheesecake, my first attempt though , and fortunately it turned out ok. And for Iman, we took the kids out to Bin Ateeq restaurant.
